GulfWave 2:
FAQs
Welcome to GulfWave 2's
frequently asked questions page. If we don't
answer one of your questions please call our office or

How do tankless water
heaters work?
Tankless water heaters work
“on demand”. In other words, when you call for hot water
your home, the unit kicks on and sends you the hot water
as you requested. The unit only uses electricity when
you ask for hot water; therefore, the average customer
experiences savings of about 20% per month off their
normal electric bill. Not to mention, you never run out
of hot water with a tankless water heater. It is much
smaller than a tank and mounts on the wall freeing up
much needed space. Last, but certainly not least, it
will never flood your home with 40+ gallons of water.
The GULFWAVE 2 comes with a 100% LIFETIME WARRANTY on
all parts.
What is the difference
between tankless vs. tank anyhow?
|
Conventional Tank Problem |
Tankless Solution |
|
Thermal heat loss: 20-40% of energy consumed by a
traditional tank is wasted as heat is slowly lost due to
radiant heat loss form the storage tank. |
Reduce water heating costs as much as 60%! The GULFWAVE
2 is an “on demand” heater, since there is no hot water
storage, thermal heat loss is completely eliminated.
When it is “on” it’s working at 99.5% efficiency. |
|
Limited supply of hot water: Conventional heaters
frequently run out of hot water after just 1-2 showers
back to back. Then there is a wait period for recovery.
Or, if you’ve been out of town for a period of time,
when you turn on your power to the tank, there is a
recovery period. |
The GULFWAVE 2 will never run out of hot water. It could
literally run all day long and you would have a
continuous flow of hot water. When you return from a
trip, there is no wait time for hot showers. |
|
Overheating: Most people set the temperature on the
tanks in excess of what is safe to ensure they have more
hot water. This not only wastes energy, but can run the
risk of scalding, particularly with young children or
the elderly. |
The GULFWAVE 2 allows you to set the output temperature
digitally (between 85 and 125 degrees) and you can
change the temperature easily. According to the U.S.
Dept. of Energy, for each 10 degree reduction in water
temperature, you can save between 3%-5% in energy costs. |
|
The average life of a tank heater is between 7-10 years,
which is a short life span. Often times, they decide to
quit at the least convenient time and leave a huge mess
of water and damage behind. The worst damage occurs in
apartments, condos, mobile homes, and in homes where the
water tank is in the attic or a closet. |
The GULFWAVE 2 tankless system is designed to last a
lifetime and is made with quality American parts and
hand assembled. All electronic components are modular,
meaning that they can be easily serviced. The GULFWAVE 2
is full warranted (internal components as well as the
casing) for life! |
|
Bulky and cumbersome, just think…..they all end up in a
landfill someday. They also take up a lot of space,
particularly in mobile homes, apartments and condos. |
The GULFWAVE 2 is 13.5” wide and 16” high by 3.25” deep.
It weighs 12 lbs. Become part of the solution to our
environment and conserve our natural resources by going
tankless. GO TANKLESS, GO GREEN! |
What are the electrical requirements?
Each model has different
capabilities and electrical requirements, please refer
to the specifications page. These are “whole house”
units that require 240volt or 208volt. If you live in a
building with an elevator, check to see if you have 220v
or 208v available to you. Many (but not all) building
with elevators only offer 208v.
What are the plumbing requirements?
You can install the GULFWAVE
2 at any home that uses copper, galvanized, or CPVC
plumbing. Please check your county for specific plumbing
codes on installation.
Does it require venting?
No, because it is electric,
not gas, no venting is required. All gas heaters require
an expensive venting system and require additional time
and money to install.
Is the GULFWAVE 2 Tankless Water Heater safe?
Yes, the GULFWAVE 2 doesn’t
have a tank with pressure to create potential
explosions, no gas to omit carbon monoxide. Since it
will never leak, there is no risk of flooding in your
home.
How much hot water will the GULFWAVE 2 deliver?
Each model has a different
GPM delivery rate. Please refer to the specifications
page to determine which model best fits your individual
needs. We offer seven models to meet the needs of most
home and several commercial applications such as office
building, churches, yachts, hotels, apartments,
condominiums, restaurants, and health and beauty salons.
Is it expensive and how much does it cost?
You can find other tankless
heaters for less, however, with the GULFWAVE 2, we offer
the highest quality, American made, hand assembled,
state of the art unit that is designed to last a
lifetime. So when you factor in what it will cost to get
one, be sure you factor in what you will be SAVING over
a lifetime with this system. By using one branch circuit
breaker, you save additional monies on your electric
bill. Our largest GULFWAVE 2 model would use a maximum
of 113 amps (only if every application is in use
simultaneously) Compare that to the electric
requirements other tankless units need to operate and
function. Don’t forget, you get what you pay for. The
GULFWAVE 2 is the LAST water heater you will ever buy!
Can I adjust the temperature?
Yes, all of our GULFWAVE 2
models come with a digital thermostat that can be easily
adjusted up to 125 degrees.
How much can I expect to save when I convert to a
tankless water heating system?
A conventional water heater
must keep 40-80 gallons of water heated between 120
degrees and 160 degrees 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
365 days a year. Now, compare that to how many minutes a
day you actually turn on a hot water tap, shower, etc.
in your home. Remember that a tankless water heater is
not running all day long…only when you call for hot
water! This completely eliminates the standby energy
losses from a conventional tank. What sets the GULFWAVE
2 apart from our competitors is: FULL LIFETIME
WARRANTY!! GULFWAVE 2 uses the least amount of energy to
heat your water. This only adds to your potential
electrical savings.
What model or size
tankless water system do I need for my home or business?
This depends on the number
of bathrooms you have in the home and total incoming
amperage at your main electric panel. Please check what
your current electric service has and we can guide you
in selecting the proper size that will best meet your
needs. Gulf Coast Tankless Hot Water, Inc. has a variety
of models to accommodate any application you might need.
Please refer to specifications page on each model. In
homes that have two conventional water heaters, we
recommend installing two tankless water heaters to
replace them.
How long have tankless water heaters been available?
Tankless water heaters have
been used in Europe, Asia, and South American for over
60 years and are now becoming extremely popular in the
U.S. as more people become concerned with environmental
issues and energy and space savings. Tankless systems
help preserve natural resources and deliver PURE hot
water since it is not passing through a tank filled with
sediment. Used water tanks pollute our land fills, our
tankless is a once in a lifetime purchase.
Where are these units made?
The GULFWAVE 2 is
manufactured and hand assembled in the USA.
